Lava Lamps

First Class Experiments

First Class have been busy investigating materials. They even designed and made their very own lava lamps using just bottles, oil, water, food colouring and Alka-Selter tablets!!! We discovered oil and water do not mix and water always settles on top. When we added a few drops of food colouring it dissolved in the water but not the oil. The Alker-Selker tablets caused an eruption and so we had our very own lava lamps. Maybe the kids would like to show you at home.
